The branch of the Gavin Family who will be taking part in this reunion, are all descendants of Tom "The King" Gavin and his wife Margaret Cosgrove, who are the first on record to reside in the village of Newpark, one mile outside Swinford.

The town of Swinford is located on Ireland's west coast, about 250 km
from the capital, Dublin. It has a population of around 2,000 people,
and is located within easy reach of the river Moy, one of Irelands best
fishing rivers. With the rugged hills and mountains of Connemara
just a stones throw away, Mayo is one of the most beautiful regions in
Ireland. Swinford is easily accessable as it is on the main road between
Dublin and Castlebar and is 10 miles from Knock International Airport.
Despite being the 3rd biggest county in Ireland, you can make your way
around the county's scenic driving routes with relative ease.
Pay a visit to the towns of Castlebar or Westport to get a feel for the
unique atmosphere only found in Ireland. Have a glass or two of Guiness or
maybe partake in some local ceili dancing. And if you're feeling like a
challenge, have a go at conquering the mountain of Croagh Patrick
one of Ireland's most renowned mountains and most challenging climbs.
What ever you decide to do, make sure you soak up as much of that distinct
Irish atmosphere as you can. You won't regret visiting this part of Ireland.
